Everyone knows that dachshunds like to sit up and beg. Even if you don’t teach your dog how to do it, we’ll figure it out. Let’s face it, when your master is sitting on the couch watching TV and eating chips, it’s an attention-getter.
Unfortunately, it’s not very good for our backs and you shouldn’t encourage us to do it. So here’s what to do: As soon as your wiener dog sits up and begs, give him whatever he’s begging for. Then he will stop begging and won’t beg again until he’s finished eating what you just gave him. It he sits up again, THROW HIM ANOTHER CHIP! See how easy it is to get your dog to stop begging? If you give him a chip and he continues to sit up while he’s eating it, you are dealing with an expert, and you may have to overwhelm him by throwing a bunch of chips on the floor. Come to think of it, chips aren’t very good for us either, but we’ll deal with one problem at a time.

Oh! Very good Wally! I have 4 Doxies right now. 2 of my own and 2 fosters. I get the begging from 4 sides. If they silent begging doesn’t work they resort to all kinds of sound effects! Love ‘em to pieces!
My one fakes an asthma attack when we ignore him! we have 3 and they are all very dramatic when food is involved!
Well, our dog must be the strangest weiner dog of all ~ she does NOT like human food! Sitting next to a box containing a DQ chicken dinner, she curled up and fell asleep! Since we found her, we have no idea how she lived the first 1 1/2 years of her little life…but human food, even chips do not even get a response from her…she reaponds to car keys ~ it is time to GO!
