If you know a wiener dog personally, you know that we understand many words. You can’t say “walk”, “drive”, “num-nums”, or “badgers” without us going crazy. (We can’t help it. We’re just wired that way!)
You might think that it’s a good idea to spell words instead of saying them. Forget it. Wiener dogs are excellent spellers. The only thing we can’t spell is “dasch…” dochshu…” well, that’s why I refer to myself as a wiener dog. (Or am I a “weiner”dog? Whatever.)
Just this morning, Honeybunch told Ralph that I need to go see the V-E-T-E-R-I-N-A-R-I-A-N. I knew exactly what she meant. I also got very excited because I’ve never met a vegetarian before!
as a wiener dog owner wait no let me rephrase that ….. as an owned person of a wiener dog I AGREE .. THEY CAN spell

oh and chipmunk, squirrel and kitty kat are also taboo words
Yes Wally, I also try spelling words in front of my wiener girl Gracie. After 11 years of hearing the spelling, I believe she too has learned.
Yep. My dog learned r-i-d-e, c-a-r, l-e-a-s-h, and even i-c-e c-r-e-a-m.
And another one : My red smooth tweenie learned the word…Cute. (Cue ominous music.) He would have defined it as, the sound that means I’ve got away with committing yet another atrocity against my humans-but he sure got excited whenever he heard it.
